The Villa, your own private oasis, no more than 20m from the water’s edge, is self-catering, with your friendly house assistant Bonito Xivale, in attendance.

The Villa consists of an open plan Lounge (sea facing) Dining room/kitchen with scullery, 4 bedrooms (all sea facing) with 4 ensuite bathrooms as well an outside shower.

The Villa is delightfully stylishly furnished in indigenous hard wood. You can enjoy your days on the Patio with great views of the aqua blue sea and white sands.

Villa, Carter’s Rest at Paradise Beach Resort is hosted by Ricky & Yvette, by prior arrangement or by friendly helper Bonito if you choose full self-catering.

GPS points and detailed directions will be supplied. Maxixe from Massinga is 70km.

4×4 only on a sand road from EN1 to Villa Carter’s Rest which is 2.5 hrs from the nearest town, Massinga.

Amenities

Kitchen fully equipped with toaster, pots, pans, glasses, cups, salad bowls and utensils as well as a gas stove and electric fridge and freezer. A bar fridge and washing machine are also provided.

The house is solar powered, with gas geysers and filtered spring water, for drinking.

Bedrooms 1 & 2 have private access to the large front undercover patio. Furnished with king-size four-poster beds, flowing mosquito nets and beautiful views over the estuary and sea. From your bed I watch the sun rising over the ocean. Bed linen & rug supplied.

Bedrooms 3 & 4 are slightly set back with their own patio overlooking the sea and estuary and have their own private access. They are furnished with 2x ¾ four poster beds with mosquito nets. Bed linen & rugs supplied.

The en-suite bathrooms consist of a large shower, and hand basin with a sliding door to the bedroom. Towels, toilet paper & cleaning products are provided.

The Villa can sleep a maximum of 8 guests, additional accommodation can be arranged. Villa Carter’s Rest doesn’t include a microwave or tv.

A braai, grid and charcoal are provided. A lock up garage and two undercover parking bays are available too.

Please note: 3G is available in the area but erratic at times.

Near to Villa Carter's Rest

Seasonal fresh fruit and veg, coconuts, cashews, peanuts & pao (the local bread) are available daily as well as prawns, calamari and fish if they have a good day out at sea! All sold by local sellers on your doorstep! Best to have Meticals to purchase goods from the locals.

There is a local shop 1km from Carter’s Rest which has beverages such as 2m, Tipo Tinto, ciders, Portuguese wine, cooldrinks and some basic essentials such as flour, rice, sugar, long life milk, oil, vinegar, instant coffee, tea, toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap and toilet paper.

5km from Carter’s Rest is Armado’s shop for basic supplies and some hardware supplies too.

In Massinga you will find a Chinese shop with mainly non-perishable supplies and crockery. There is also a market and a corner bottle store with a lot of South African spirits.

There is a butchery behind the Oppi-Koppi that is run by a South African on the RHS which is 8km before Massinga on the Maxixe side.

You will also find a Standard Bank and BCI bank, pharmacy, Pep Stores, Construa Hardware and Handling shop which sells 2m, Manica and other beers. There are lots of little stores in the area as well as an Engen Garage.

Additional Offering

An additional offering by the hosts Ricky and Yvette can be arranged, from pick up on arrival at your destination in South Africa (Johannesburg or Durban) and Mozambique (Vilanculos or Inhambane). If pick up is in South Africa, accommodation will be arranged overnight in suitable locations to make the journey comfortable and enjoyable on your way to Villa Carter’s Rest at Paradise Beach resort.  Full catering and beverages of your choice are offered.

POA for the entire package or selected portions thereof, are offered. Pricing of the entire package will be determined by various factors such as the pick-up points, travelling distance, overnight accommodation, food and beverage requirements as well as additional activities such as mangrove and fishing trips, blow hole trips and snorkelling by boat with a qualified skipper who will ensure that any trips will be undertaken in the safest conditions. Fishing from land and snorkelling as well as diving trips can be arranged. Day trips to Maxixe, Inhambane and Vilenculos can also be organised.  Should any guests choose to overnight at any of these locations, we would happily make these arrangements.

Directions to Villa Carter’s Rest from Massinga

  • Go along the EN1 from Massinga towards Vilenculos for 8km
  • Just after Morrungulo, Bonito Bay turn-off you will turn right at the Pomene turn off board S23.2546.00 E35.3711.54
  • Follow the road to the first village, Rio Das Pedros S23.1947.17 E35.3826.08
  • Travel straight through the village between the little shops on either side of the road for 23km where you will pass through Manenge Village S23.0062.30 E35.4105.61 straight through to a small settlement past the Witness Kingdom Hall S22.9635.24 E35.4459.86 on your right
  • Then head over a small bridge where locals wash their clothes, then up a steep sand road until you come to a fork in the road with a small Paradise sign S22.9385.43 E35.4827.30

  • Then you will pass Armado’s shop with a stage and mural on white wall S22.8020.54 E35.4838.90
  • Then in 5km you will arrive at the Paradise Beach Lodge entrance
  • Keep going on the same road through a little settlement of houses.
  • Soon after the houses you will find a road on the right, take that road and follow it down to the bottom and turn right S22.8567.44 E35.5204.29 
  • Go past Green Flamingo then carry on past all the other Paradise beachfront houses and find the Carter’s Rest board S22.8593.32 E35.5261.43 which is the last house in that group of houses
